Irene L. (VanKirk) Costell, age 82 of Lambertville, MI, died Sunday, February 7, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Born July 6, 1927 in Lambertville, MI, she was the daughter of Quay and Ruth (Woitzel) VanKirk. A 1946 graduate of the former Lambertville High School, she married William Costell on November 12, 1950. Irene was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Temperance, MI.
She is survived by her loving husband, William. Daughters, Lynda Williams, Ruth Vordeburg, Karen (Greg) Farmer and Paula (Tim) Fleitz. Brothers, Russell and Matthew (Ginny) Vankirk. Sisters, JoAnne (LaVerne) Spotts, Pamela (Steve) Bockting and Cindy Burris. Sister-in-laws, Beverly, Norma, Delores, Virginia VanKirk. Grandchildren, Wendy (Scott) Wolfe, Timothy (Renee) Werner, Jennifer (Jason) Gunsleman, Eric and Kevin Vordeburg, Stephanie, Brittany, Brian and Brooke Farmer, Nicole and Thomas Yancy and Jordan Fleitz. 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Frank, James, Homer, Richard and Quay VanKirk.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 pm Wednesday and 2-9 pm Thursday at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Temperance, where she will lie in state after 10:00 am. Pastor Frank Paine, officiating. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. |
